Anika Tifft

Born in Saco, Maine, Anika has been dancing since she was 2. She studied Jazz, Modern, Ballet and Hip-Hop at several dance schools in Portland, Maine including Ram Island Dance, the New Dance Studio, Casco Bay Movers and Portland Ballet.

At 5 she began performing with a Portland based dance company Perennial Effects. At 10 she started dancing for a small Scottish Highland Dance company called Highland Soles which toured schools and festivals in New England. She danced for the teen dance company, UpBeat Feet, which performed in a number of venues in southern Maine. Anika also spent her summers at The Young Dancers Workshop and Professional Dance Festival at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

At 19 she moved to NYC to study dance in a small professional training program at Dance New Amsterdam (DNA) and while there she worked with many well known teachers including Katiti King, Jennifer Archibald, Oliver Steele, Alexandra Beller and Diane McCarthy. She participated in 3 performance projects at DNA and also performed other works with fellow student choreographers.

In 2010 Anika started her training in Salsa on 2 with Karla Garcia at Sol Dance Center and performed in The NYC International Salsa Congress in 2011. She currently teaches Jazz Teens, Hip-Hop Teens and Hip-Hop Choreography at Sol Dance Center as well as Wedding dance classes, Sweet 16 choreography, Salsa Privates, and she is Co-director of The Solettes.
